Resists Oil Breakdown
XL Synthetic Motor Oil maintains its fluidity (viscosity) under the most extreme conditions. Some oils break down and significantly increase in viscosity after extended periods of high-temperature operation. These changes can cause excessive oil consumption, engine deposits, accelerated wear and difficult cold-starts. The GM Oxidation and Deposit (GMOD) Test consists of a 5.7L V8 engine running at 293ºF (100º hotter than normal) for 100 hours. These severe operating conditions test an oils ability to control viscosity increase, deposits and oil consumption. The testing revealed that AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil provides 64 percent more protection against oil breakdown1 than required by the GM dexos1® Gen 2 specification, ensuring protection in extreme temperatures.
Protects Pistons from Low-Speed Pre-Ignition
XL Synthetic Motor Oil features unique chemistry proven to protect your engine against the harmful effects of low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI). LSPI is the spontaneous ignition of the fuel/air mixture prior to spark-triggered ignition. Most new engines feature gasoline direct-inject (GDI), often coupled with a turbocharger. These technologies heighten the possibility of LSPI events, which can destroy pistons and connecting rods. A properly formulated motor oil is critical for protecting your engine against LSPI.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like GM have addressed the issue by designing tests to determine a motor oil's ability to prevent LSPI. XL Synthetic Motor Oil achieved 100 percent protection against LSPI2 – zero occurrences were recorded throughout five consecutive tests.
Keeps Engines Clean
AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil is fortified with detergent and dispersant additives. Its boosted additive package effectively raises the total base number (TBN) to neutralize acids and resist sludge, corrosion and carbon deposits. XL provides 25 percent more cleaning power3 to help keep your engine running smoother, longer.
Reduces Maintenance
Motorists, business owners and fleet managers benefit from the boosted engine protection of AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil. Frequent oil changes are expensive, time-consuming and inconvenient. The extra protection built into XL can provide extended drain intervals up to 12,000 miles or one year4, if you choose, allowing you to change oil on your schedule, reduce maintenance, save money and reduce waste oil.
Maximizes Fuel Economy & Maintains Low Emissions
XL Synthetic Motor Oil is licenced by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to meet and exceed the requirements commonly found in owner's manuals. It excels in fuel-economy testing, earning the additional "Resource Conserving" designation5 from the API. XL is also friendly toward modern emissions control systems, promoting proper operation of catalytic converters for optimum service life and low exhaust emissions.
1Based on independent testing of AMSOIL XL 5W-30 motor oil in the GMOD engine test required for the GM dexos1 Gen2 specification.
2Based on zero LSPI events in five consecutive tests of AMSOIL XL 5W-30 Motor Oil in the LSPI engine test required by the GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification.

Transmission Fluid Evacuation Service:
BULLETIN FROM FILTER MANUFACTURERS COUNCIL (16K PDF)
Transmissions in commercial vehicles, SUVs, trucks and vans – particularly those used for hauling or towing – are subjected to severe-service operation and increased heat. Elevated temperatures cause fluids to break down, allowing damaging metal-to-metal contact and the formation of sludge and deposits. The problem is worse in modern transmissions with more gears, clutch packs and narrow oil passages that require clean, high-quality fluid to achieve maximum performance and life.
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is specifically formulated to withstand the rigors of heavy towing, elevated temperatures and challenging terrain. It remains fluid in sub-zero temperatures and provides reserve protection during heavy use and even abuse.
Proven in 180,000-mile, Severe-Service Taxi Fleet Field Trial
To demonstrate its effectiveness in severe service, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF was installed in Las Vegas taxi cabs. The vehicles routinely encountered demanding stop-and-go driving loaded with passengers and cargo, while the desert environment presented extremely hot ambient temperatures, placing enormous strain on the fluid. Following 180,000 miles, a transmission was selected for analysis. The Aluminum Beaker Oxidation Test (ABOT) is an industry standardized test used to determine a transmission fluid's oxidation resistance, which is a good indicator of its service life. Testing by an independent, third-party lab revealed that after 180,000 miles in severe service, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF resisted oxidation longer than required for new fluid to meet the Chrysler ATF+4 specification (see graph). Internal components, including the valve body and clutch plates (pictured), were virtually free of damaging sludge, deposits and wear, confirming the lubricant's high level of protection for severe-service applications.
Protects Against Thermal Breakdown
Signature Series Synthetic ATF is formulated with high concentrations of antioxidants, making it naturally heat resistant. It provides outstanding protection against sludge and varnish deposits that clog narrow oil passages and contribute to clutch glazing. After 180,000 miles in severe service, fluid analysis revealed Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF contained 83 percent of its original oxidation inhibitors, proving its long-lasting resistance to thermal breakdown.
Outstanding Wear Protection
Varying speeds and loads causes torque multiplication and extreme stress on gears and bearings. AMSOIL formulated Signature Series Synthetic ATF with high film strength and premium anti-wear/extreme-pressure additives to help prevent wear during severe service. In the industry-standard FZG Gear Wear Test, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF that had been used for 180,000 severe-service miles achieved a “Pass” at stage 12 – the highest stage. The results exceeded the Ford MERCON V and Chrysler ATF+4 specifications for new fluid, demonstrating the lubricant's long-lasting wear protection.
Cold-Temperature Fluidity
Cold, thick automatic transmission fluid lengthens shift times and reduces fuel economy. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is wax-free and delivers extraordinary cold-flow properties. It helps improve shift response, energy efficiency and warm-up times.
Friction Durability
Today's transmissions are smaller and must withstand higher horsepower and torque while delivering smoother shifts, all with longer fluid life recommendations. AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic ATF is formulated with friction modifier additives that deliver outstanding clutch-holding capacity (static friction), torque-transfer ability (dynamic friction) and anti-shudder properties (slipping torque-converter clutches). Analysis reveals that after 180,000 miles in severe service, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF provides nearly identical friction properties as new fluid for smooth, reliable shifts.

Untreated Fuel Leads to Poor Engine Performance
A vehicle demonstrates its best efficiency and engine performance when it is new. As the engine ages, its performance suffers from gasoline fuel-generated deposits that form on the fuel injectors, intake valves and combustion chamber. Additives are required to control deposit formation.
Today’s fuels, however, lack sufficient treatments of either enough additives or high quality additives. Fuel system deposits result in the following:
Treated Fuel Delivers Maximum Performance
AMSOIL P.i. is the most potent gasoline additive available today. As a concentrated detergent, it is unsurpassed in cleaning combustion chamber deposits, intake valve deposits and port fuel injector deposits. AMSOIL P.i. helps maintain peak engine efficiency, fuel economy, power and drivability in newer low mileage engines. In engines with accumulated deposits, testing showed AMSOIL P.i. provided the following clean-up benefits after only one tank of gasoline:
AMSOIL P.i. works as an "emissions passer." It is ideal for use prior to emissions inspections.
Unsurpassed Deposit Clean-up
Port Fuel Injector Deposits form after the engine has been shut down and there is no gasoline flowing through the injectors. During this "hot soak" period the injectors heat up and the gasoline remaining in the injectors degrades and forms deposits. This can happen very quickly with the use of poor quality gasoline and short trip driving. Because the clearances within the injectors are extremely tight and injectors must deliver precise amounts of "atomized" fuel, even small amounts of deposits can cause injectors to malfunction. Fuel flow is reduced and spray patterns are disrupted, decreasing engine efficiency, power and fuel economy, while increasing exhaust emissions.
Intake Valve Deposits form on the intake side or back side of the valves. As deposits increase, they restrict airflow and alter airflow patterns in the cylinder. The deposits disrupt the balanced air/fuel ratio by momentarily absorbing and releasing fuel, and they can cause valve sticking by getting in the way of the valve stem and guide. Deposits also restrict proper seating, and the valves may be burned. Intake valve deposits cause lost engine power, increased emissions, poor engine efficiency and potential valve failure.
Combustion Chamber Deposits form on the top of the pistons and on the cylinder heads. They increase compression and absorb heat during combustion to later release it during the intake cycle. In some engines with tight squish domes, combustion chamber deposits cause the piston to actually hit the cylinder head. This is referred to as combustion chamber deposit interference or "carbon rap." Combustion chamber deposits also flake off as they get large, and these flakes can get trapped between the valves and valve seat, resulting in compression loss, difficult starting and rough idle.
Higher compression and stored heat cause increased intake fresh charge temperatures and the increased likelihood of pre-ignition "knock" or "pinging" when the fuel spontaneously combusts prior to spark ignition. This increases emissions and may cause engine damage. Many of today’s cars have "knock" sensors that adjust spark timing to prevent knock.
Although audible knock is controlled, power is lost from retarded timing. Higher octane fuels of 4-5 octane numbers can be used to help prevent knock, an effect called "octane requirement increase."As a vehicle ages, more-expensive,
higher-octane fuel is needed to keep it operating at peak performance. By cleaning combustion chamber deposits, knock is controlled, power is restored, fuel economy increases and higher-octane fuels are less necessary for peak performance.
Maximum Fuel Economy
AMSOIL P.i. maximizes fuel efficiency by dissolving and removing fuel system deposits and other contaminants for improved power and overall performance.
Recommendations
Treat one full tank of gas up to 20 gallons with one bottle of P.i. For very large gas tanks, partially fill to 40 gallons and treat with two bottles of P.i. Using more than two bottles per treatment is not recommended. Treat gas every 4,000 miles of service (or 100 hours for marine, stationary and off-road gasoline-powered engines). P.i. helps pass emission tests by running one tank of treated fuel through the engine prior to testing. Safe for use with catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, oxygenated gas and 10 percent ethanol blended gas. Not recommended for two-cycle engines.
DANGER: Combustible. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. Harmful if inhaled. Skin and eye irritant. Read precautions on container before use.
AMSOIL DOMINATOR® Octane Boost (AOB) significantly increases engine response and power in all two- and four-stroke gasoline-fueled engines by increasing octane up to four numbers. Just one treatment reduces engine knock, improves ignition and helps fuel burn cleaner. DOMINATOR Octane Boost is the recommended octane boost for all high-performance off-road and racing applications. Most users find one 12-ounce bottle of DOMINATOR Octane Boost for 15 gallons of gasoline provides the ideal performance increase. DOMINATOR Octane Boost is also excellent as a lead substitute at the same treat rates in collector automobiles, older off-road equipment and pleasure vehicles.
What is "engine knock" and why does it matter?
"Knock" is an uncontrolled and explosive ignition of a hydrocarbon fuel, such as gasoline, in the combustion chamber. It causes a knocking or pinging sound, robs the engine of power and, left unchecked, causes serious engine damage. Fuel's tendency to knock is measured by its octane number. Lower numbers denote greater knock tendency; higher numbers denote greater knock control. Knock may be eliminated with the appropriate octane number.

Diesel Injector Clean is formulated to clean both the tough-to-remove internal diesel injector deposits surfacing in modern high-pressure common-rail diesel engines and traditional carbonaceous deposits. Diesel Injector Clean delivers confidence in your diesel’s performance. Its concentrated formula uses unique chemistry to target and eliminate specific performance issues, maximizing diesel power.
Helps Restore Horsepower & Improve Fuel Economy
Fuel injector deposits interrupt spray patterns, causing poor fuel atomization, incomplete combustion, excessive emissions and smoke. High-pressure common-rail fuel systems are becoming commonplace as vehicle manufacturers attempt to produce more power while still meeting tightening emissions standards. In high-pressure common-rail systems, injection pressures can be 30,000 psi and higher to atomize the fuel into a fine mist for more efficient combustion, yielding increased power and fuel economy while reducing emissions. To maintain these high pressures, injector assemblies are highly engineered, with clearances as tight as 1-3 microns (a human hair is typically 70-100 microns thick). Even minimal internal diesel injector deposits on the injector pintal or other components can lead to sticking and even seizure, reducing power, fuel economy and operability. Traditional additive chemistry is not designed to address these tough-to-remove deposits.
Diesel Injector Clean features advanced chemistry that delivers concentrated strength to target internal diesel injector deposits and traditional carbonaceous deposits, helping to restore horsepower and operability to like-new condition. Acceleration is improved and, with regular use, Diesel Injector Clean continues to enhance performance by keeping injectors clean. The net savings on fuel can result in no additional cost of ownership.
Lubricates Fuel Pump & Injectors to Reduce Wear
Ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD) provides significantly reduced lubricity – a critical property in controlling wear in fuel pumps and injectors. Diesel Injector Clean adds back the lubricity the fuel pump and injectors need, reducing wear, improving service life and saving time and money on maintenance costs.
Minimizes Soot-Loading
Diesel Injector Clean's powerful formula cleans fuel injectors and piston rings for improved combustion and better sealing. It minimizes soot generated from incomplete combustion and helps keep soot out of the crankcase, reducing soot-related wear and engine oil viscosity increase.
Separates Fuel and Water
Diesel Injector Clean is an alcohol-free product that protects fuel systems against water contamination. It helps prevent fuel/water emulsions so that separating filters can safely remove water before it reaches the injectors, where it can cause corrosion. Water can be drained easier, ensuring drivability.
Extends Filter Life
Modern diesel engines run hot, raising the temperature of the fuel returned to the tank and causing carbonaceous deposits that collect in the fuel filter (see picture), plugging it and causing premature failure issues. AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean effectively protects against deposits, extending fuel filter life.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Diesel Injector Clean is recommended for use with all types of heavy- and light-duty, on- or off-road and marine diesel engines. For initial use, follow the Clean-Up recommendation; use Maintenance dose for regular treatment. Use with every tank of fuel for best performance and protection against fuel-pump wear, injector wear and injector deposits. Compatible with all types of exhaust emission systems, including diesel particulate filters (DPFs). Add to fuel before storage. Excellent for use with AMSOIL Diesel Cetane Boost and AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow.

High-Pressure Common-Rail Fuel Injector Pintle | Traditional Fuel Injector Pintle |
Fuel injectors in high-pressure common-rail diesel engines use smaller, highly engineered components to produce the higher fuel pressures needed for improved combustion. The tighter clearances invite internal diesel injector deposits that interfere with injector needle actuation, reducing performance. External deposits can also form on the injector nozzle (the typical trouble spot for traditional injectors). While many other fuel additives have yet to catch up to the internal diesel injector deposit problem, AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean targets deposits wherever they form, maximizing power, fuel economy and performance in high-pressure common-rail and traditional diesel engines. |
Diesel engines operate best on fuel with cetane values of 50 or higher. Most diesel fuel sold in North America has a cetane value of 40-45. Diesel Cetane Boost delivers confidence in your diesel’s performance. Its concentrated formula uses unique chemistry to target and eliminate specific performance issues, maximizing diesel power.
Improves Fuel Quality for Peak Performance
Fuel with a higher cetane number provides for a more complete burn, resulting in improved performance. By increasing cetane, Diesel Cetane Boost improves the ignition quality of diesel fuel, maximizing available power and improving starting. It also smooths idle and reduces smoke and emissions.
Recommendations
Diesel Cetane Boost is recommended for use in all types of heavy- and light-duty, on-and off-road and marine diesel engines. Best performance is achieved when used with every tank of fuel. Excellent for use with ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD). Compatible with biodiesel and all types of exhaust emission systems, including diesel particulate filters (DPFs). Follow the chart below. Add before filling tank. Excellent for use with AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean and AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow.
